I intend to use an Nvidea GTX 1050 card as my streaming encoder and the computer's CPU for the recording encoder. I only have one monitor. Does it get attached to the graphics card or the connector on the motherboard?
Whichever one you are gaming on, but generally, always the discrete GPU, never the motherboard.
Also, be aware that NVENC supports two encoding sessions on consumer-grade GPUs like the 1050... you can run both the stream and recording on the 1050, with different settings for each. Just set the recording to NVENC, and not 'same as stream' and it'll run a separate encode. Going to be MUCH better than your CPU, and cut down on overhead as well.
