Question / Help Artifacts when recording, since changing GPUs

Happened to me in the regular OBS too, thread: https://obsproject.com/forum/threads/artifacts-when-recording-since-changing-gpus.37373/

OBS Multiplatform log: https://gist.github.com/66484104799f75151b7a

I found out that the issue is happening only when I use the Direct3D 11 renderer and not when I use the OpenGL one, and only when I play games that render with the OpenGL API such as osu!, or The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth.
I get reduced in-game performance with the OpenGL renderer so I'd like to use the Direct3D 11 one.

Any help is appreciated!

when I change GPUs, even if its the same chip manufacturer, I use DDU to wipe the old drivers properly in safemode then reinstall the new ones. Note that windows 10 likes to install drivers from windows update, I would disable that as well

I already did it but not in safemode (I doubt it made it not work correctly), I'm pretty sure that the old drivers are not the issue.

suit yourself. I have no issues with doing it the right way. safemode ensures that drivers are not being used when removed.

EDIT: tbh, I dont know if it will fix it, but when something changes, I often look there first.

I tried it and it didn't fix my issue :/

The only other thing I can think of to try is to underclock your GPU slightly. what is your GPU? the log doesn't show what it is.
Tried underclocking both memory/core clocks, didn't do anything :(
My GPU is the Sapphire R9 380 4GB NITRO card.

you wouldn't happen to have raptr installed, aka gaming evolved? try uninstalling that or disable the recording/streaming function. when I get a new driver install, I always do a custom install and leave gaming evolved out of the install (which comes with the driver).

I removed it completely just like I removed GeForce Experience when I had an nvidia card

Bump! Is there any found workaround for this issue?
I actuallly start to think this isn't an issue with AMD because I reported the issue over 5 times and within 3 driver updates it's not fixed yet.

Bump!
A whole new version of the AMD drivers was released, they switched from "Catalyst" to "Crimson" and promise full Windows 10 support yet the issue still persists.

I really suspect that the incompability is within OBS.

Did anyone find a workaround for it?

At this point I wouldn't be surprised if it was your hardware unless you're telling me the majority of people with a Tonga/Antigua has this issue. Can you roll back to a previous driver and have this issue? 15.7? 14.9?

I still get it with both of the older driver versions.
And I guess that many users also have this issue because on my older threads people said that it's a popular issue within R9 Series users.

I don't think my hardware can be faulty as I got the GPU 2 months ago and this issue was there even at the first day I used the GPU.

R9 GPU, OpenGL game.

Some people report success with opengl renderer in OBS-MP. Your mileage may vary.

Wait what? your issue has been there since day 1 and you dont think its a hardware issue? I'm not convinced either way but I dont think this issue is typical. I would see about RMA since you have a backup GPU for now.

Lastly, make sure your disable hardware decoding in steam as I've heard people having issues with this.

I only have this Problem with artifacts in obs, and no other recording Software (not even xsplit which i literally hate) so im guessing its not a Hardware issue...
