Application Audio Capture. Why is this feature still in BETA status?

It's already been two years since the unofficial plug-in appeared when Windows 10 was updated to version 2004. Are there any problems now? Results may vary with different PC configurations?

I'm just planning to use this feature for now and ran a short test: foobar2000 and MPC-HC played audio that OBS shouldn't capture and ran a Youtube video in Firefox and Chrome at the same time and added audio and video capture from Firefox and audio from Chrome. At first glance, everything worked.

What kind of problems can there be with this mode? After years of use, I'd like to finally leave VoiceMeeter alone and maybe just use it for microphone capture.

There are a lot of threads on the forum that sometimes describes issue a bit more, like this one:

As the title says, I have random audio issues where the sound crackles kind of like if you put your speaker in front of a big fan. It only happens with App audio capture, no issues with my microphone for example, also it only happens on the stream, I can't hear in in my headphones. I've tried...

This source is still marked as beta, because it's not working perfectly for all cases. It might work for you, but it might not work for everyone or not for every app. So if it works for you, for your app, don't hesitate to use it. It's incredibly useful. But if it somehow doesn't work, don't insist on making it work but report that issue instead to enable the devs to enhance it.
