Question / Help Any Audio options planned?

Hey,

Firstly would like to say, good job on Obs! Fantastic bit of software!

This is something that really grates on me, and was wondering if it was at all possible.

Streaming and using a VOIP app, like Ventrilo for example always causes issues when you don't want to stream what you hear in ventrilo. I understand that you can use Virtual Audio Cable, but I was wondering if it's at all possible to add some options to Obs to 'remove' a VOIP app from the streams audio. I have a feeling this is not possible due to the way Windows uses sound, but I thought it was worth asking.

Thanks for reading!

Thanks for the reply, but that has nothing to do with trying to mute a VOIP app on a stream. I'm trying to separate Ventrilo output from my game output, so the stream only hears the game. (this is using 1 soundcard, 3.5mm jacks for headset)

I know what you want to do. OBS catches 'what you hear' + another audio source set in settings. If you don't want your wievers to hear some app, maybe try changing the application's audio output? Maybe something like 'Speakers'. If OBS will still catch it, you can do it through VAC (paid) OR ASIO4ALL driver, which will create an virtual ASIO audio card which you can use for Ventrilo (I don't know if Ventrilo supports ASIO, but for example foobar200 supports it) to output sound. OBS captures only DirectShow sound, so it wouldn't capture ASIO, which can be played without any problem on your sepakers or headphones. Keep in mind, that when you are using speakers to output Ventrilo, your wievers will hear it through your microphone so consider using headphones or turning the volume down :)

mixing in/out specific applications is a bit troublesome and a pain to do correctly/well unfortunately. I won't be able to work on experimenting with that very soon, but there are alternatives in the mean time (such as virtual audio cable)

Since this topic is about audio options I figured this would be a correct place to ask instead of making another thread, would there be any plans to add a second audio device, for example; Microphone input and Audio(game audio/etc) this way I can mute my microphone but the stream still picks up game sound? (Unless I'm just missing a way to do this)

I use dxtory for game capture if streaming a PC game and used Virtual Audio Cable but I can't configure it so it plays just the game audio while not using the sounds of my skype chat and mediaplayer(music) while being able to mute and unmute microphone for stream viewers to hear. Figured with two audio options it would make this much simpler, if anyone has a guide on how to do this with VAC then I'd be most grateful for it.
