Question / Help Another black screen

So I am probably being an absolute noob and missing something really important, but whenever I try to start streaming it just gives me a black screen. I have added the game i am trying to stream (OpenTTD) to the global sources list, both OBS and OTTD are set to use the same processor in the NVIDIA control panel (i am on a desktop anyway, not a laptop), my antivirus is not intruding on anything and I have flicked between OTTD and OBS-what am I doing wrong?

I think you have to use window capture for OpenTTD

that works, but i wonder what is so different about OTTD?

It does not use Direct3D or DirectDraw I think

As its ancient predecessor TT was released for MS-DOS in 1995, i think it has been around longer than Direct3D has been in widespread use and it is 3D (in parts) so DirectDraw would probably not be optimal. Anyway, thanks. (should this be in offtopic?)
