I recently updated (and clean installed, so we're clear) my probably-outdated graphics drivers because my latest recording project has been a thorn in my side. After all of that business concluded, I went straight to it, hoping the update made even the slightest difference only to click "start recording and get hit with this BS. I assumed it was in error, so I went into settings, changed to another encoder, applied, exited, and changed it back. Instead of getting "encoder output failed" popup, OBS crashed instead. I then left with this log:
