Hi,
I've been using OBS for about 3-4 months perfectly with Windows 7 on my desktop. I just installed Windows 8.1 and now there is a compatibility issue with Windows 8.
I am recording a game to hard disk (to file) (DayZ Standalone) using game capture. It works perfectly up until the point that I Alt-Tab out of the game. When I return to the game, the audio keeps recording, but the video is black. With Windows 7 I used to alt-tab out all the time and when returning to the game the capture would continue as normal. Hopefully this can be easy to fix, becuase recording does actually work fine up until a point where the game is minimized. It's a huge pain to have to exit the game completely and then re-load the game, find a server and re-join just to start recording again.
The exact same thing happens to my friend who bought a new PC that came with Windows 8.1. He just recently installed Windows 7 dual boot and it works perfectly in 7 but only works in 8 up until the point of alt tabbing out of the game. I did some troubleshooting. I used hotkeys to stop and start the recording multiple times and they worked fine. I alt tabbed out of the game during recording, as well as when recording was stopped with no better results.
I checked the Nvidia 3d settings and made sure obs was using the graphics card as well as disabled the onboard graphics card in the BIOS.
I use game capture and it finds DayZ: DayZ in the list successfully.
Have rebooted several times.
Have uninstalled and re-installed. Tried the beta too.
I hope you can please help me because I like using Windows 8.1 as it's much snappeir than Windows 7 but if you can't fix this, I'm going to have to format and go back to Windows 7 cause I really like OBS because of the file size, ease of use, and almost no frame rate decrease when recording compared to all the other programs I've tried. Keep up the good work. I hope you can fix this issue for me - please email me if you need any specifics from my computer or if I can test anything to help narrow down the problem.
Specs:
i7-3770k
Nvidia GTX 570 (going to get a new 870 or 880 when they come out this year)
16GB RAM
Z77X-UD5H motherboard - onboard video disabled.
Thanks
