Question / Help All I see is my OBS desktop in the preview window -- not what is on my computer screen

When I launch OBS whether I + Window Capture or + Display Capture all I get in the capture window is the OBS software screen with this repeated in several sizes. What I would like to do is to record what is on my laptop screen, a video that is open from the internet or something else with both visual and audio,. but I am not aboe get OBS to display any of these -- only the software screen. How mayI select another screen to capture other than the OBS software screen? Thank you for any help you can offer with this.

If you only have a single monitor, then when you're looking at the preview of your display capture, all you see is OBS showing you the preview. This is normal behavior. Try recording while you don't have OBS showing and you should see other apps.
