Hello all!
I have used various iterations of OBS on different platforms for some time, and I was recently having problems on a Windows 7 installation of OBS Studio (latest version).
It seemed that the recordings that OBS were making were cutting off the edges of my recording. It seemed like there was some kind of auto crop happening and I could not find any thing in the settings to change that seemed to help.
I worked my google-fu until I was raging; I had found so many threads here where people had this problem, or a similar "cut off" or "autocrop" problem happening. Alas, almost all of those threads are without solution... And this one may be without, also.
But, in my case I thought I would make an account and share what I found in case it helps someone else out. Sorry I just don't have the patience to go find all of those different threads I read to share this in each one. Hence, I will now cut to the point.
I found it was all an illusion: Everything was setup fine, logs looked fine, preview fine. All settings exactly what they needed to be.
It was my media player - both MPC-HPC (Media Player Classic) and Windows Media Player were doing it.
I looked at an older video I had made that was fine - it too was "autocropping".
So I reviewed the videos again in VLC and found the videos are fine, and it wasn't anything to do with OBS.
I apologize again that this simple thing has spawned this wall of text here. But I wanted to tell people that are having these weird issues to try an alternate media player to in case this is happening, and stop blaming this awesome software!
I am also wondering if someone may understand the underlying cause of this media player issue that led me to this (codecs?), but I will direct that towards their support.
Thank you grand OBS forum and developers!
Cheers! <3
