Question / Help All audio cuts out during stream or local recording

I recently upgraded my setup to use a new microphone and audio interface to my computer. Since then I've noticed that occasionally when I talk all audio, including game audio, will cut out/in for a short period of time. The issue seems pretty random to me but I think it happens a bit more when I am streaming vs just locally recording.

Computer::
AMD 8350 @ 4.0ghz
AMD 7970HD graphics
16gb DDR3 ram
OBS v.657b - 64bit

Audio::
Audiotechnica AT2020 XLR
Steinberg UR242 audio interface

I've looked around at other threads and done some googling but nothing seems to be specific to the issue I'm having, so i'm just looking for any insight. If you want to see screenshots of my settings in OBS let me know and I will post them. Thank you.

Edit:
Just to clarify, the audio cuts out both on the stream/recording as well as in my headphones, which i'm running through the interface also, it comes across as a kind of "lag" that lasts 1-2seconds and happens every few minutes.

Unfortunately, I don't have the answer. I am posting to say that I have the exact same issue, with pretty similar equipment.

I have an FX6100, 7870 GPU, 16gb ram. My mic however is astro a40's plugged into a turtle beach audio control unit.

One thing I want to highlight. The issue is with ANY recording or streaming software, not just OBS. I have tested OBS, Plays.tv, and the windows recorder. All of these work just fine if I am not using my USB headset. But as soon as I turn on my USB headset, the audio will cut out after playing anywhere from 30 seconds to 2 minutes. It doesn't mess up the stream, just the audio.

I have tried disabling the "allow applications to have exclusive access," I have tried making sure the sleep settings are off in the advanced power settings of windows. I have updated to the latest drivers for the headset and computer. It's just so weird.

Yes, I could solve the problem by using the headset straight into the computer with 3.5mm cables rather than plugging into the audio control unit, which is USB. But the issue is, I really like the features the unit provides- particularly mic monitoring. I can't stand not being able to hear myself talk, lol.

Hope someone has an idea. I don't think it has anything to do with encoding, or resolution or any of that, because its literally only when this USB interface is being used.

Thanks to anyone who has an idea!

Thanks for the reply, even if you don't have a solution it's nice to know i'm not alone.I don't really have the option to not use my usb interface since my microphone is XLR only. I hope someone has some insight as to why this is, even if it's just a known glitch w/ AMD hardware.
