Airpods as Streaming Mic

Hi,

I know this can be done I've seen other streamers using airpods as their mic/audio but for some reason, I cannot get it to work through OBS.

I have my pods paired to my PC- I'll test the sound with a video or music it works then the second I add the audio input capture into OBS its silence.

Ultimately I'd like to be able to hear the game, video, whatever, and also record audio input with my AirPods.

Any suggestions or ideas? I've been googling but its sort of a mixed bag of responses.

Your testing indicates Audio out, NOT using bluetooth headset as a mic
my recommendation - start at OS level (with OBS not even running), and make sure properly set up. I'd guess Airpods set as speaker, not headset
Audio related

I have it set to input... but the volume bar won't move at all. Those tests are to make sure my pods are paired and functioning

Actually, they do
Your reply is in regards to OBS. Note I started with OS (Operating System, ie windows). Make sure that is corrected/fixed. If my guess is correct, ... until you you fix your settings at OS level, there is nothing you are going to do in OBS that will help

You can't use the airpod's mic device and expect to hear any sound coming from their stereo audio device. This is a property of the bluetooth protocol and is defined by the priority order in that.

The handsfree audio device, when the microphone is triggered, disables the output from the stereo audio device for the airpods (or any bluetooth audio device)

where are you getting this information? I have seen people using the mic on stream- so there must be a way that it works...?

They don't use the stereo music device on their airpod if they are using its mic, they use the handsfree audio device instead.

Bluetooth device has two mode to work, first is sound output (music), second is communication (microphone and headphone).
Check your settings in Windows, in Sound window select correct device
