Question / Help Aero breaks ePSXe Window Capture

I am capturing ePSXe (a Playstation emulator, using DirectX 6) on a Windows Vista computer. I understand that version of DX is too old for Game Capture, so I am using a Window Capture.

Window Capture works if I disable Aero, however I want to eliminate the issue of stacked windows showing up in the capture and that requires Aero.

When I enable Aero I get a black screen from the capture. If I use Entire Window it looks like it tries to grab the title bar and stuff, but that doesn't even show completely.

I've tried a few different video opions on the ePSXe side (including OpenGL and different versions of DirectX) to no avail.

Capturing other windows (like Chrome for example) works flawlessly with Aero enabled. I've googled to see if there's an existing issue specifically capturing with areo and ePSXe but I can't find anything.

Any guesses or leads?

Edit: Here are some logs from today's testing.

P.E.Op.S. OpenGL Driver 1.78 works with gamecapture, i wonder if its because of vista that aero and window capture doesnt work tbh because i have definitely used that with the dx6 plugin before.

OH SNAP. So it does! And it works with Aero. Dx6 supposedly emulates this ROM better, but this looks like it might work.

That doesn't really explain why it doesn't work with Dx6 but I think I can work with this. Thanks, man.

Yea sorry i dont know enough about it to say for certain if it could be a vista issue, someone else would have to answer that. But at least you can capture it for the time being.

Game capture however is not supposed to work with dx6 so that would be normal behaviour, game capture is designed to work with dx8+ and opengl
