Greetings. in recording custom output menu, there's a list of encoders. There's four in which i am interested - "nvenc_h264 (libx264)" , "nvenc (libx264)" , "h264_nvenc (libx264)" and "h264_amf (libx264)" Which one should i choose and what's the difference?

If you don't know this, you should not use custom output. Instead, use the regular advanced output and choose the encoders in its settings. These are the same encoders with the same settings and features, only with a better user interface, and encoders unavailable on your hardware are hidden to avoid confusion with choosing something that cannot work.

There's a problem - i can't record in .avi using regular output. there's not many options, and many of them are bad.
Here's a list of them :
flv- only supports 1 audio track, bad for editing
mp4 - video gets corrupted if i don't stop the recording propertly (which happens to me very often)
mov - the same problem with mp4
mkv - cannot be edited through Sony Vegas, even if i use "experimental features"
ts and m3u8 - doesn't work with Vegas too

Listen to koala.

If your recordings with mp4 & mov containers get corrupted, what do you think is going to happen to AVI's?

Stick with the mkv container & remux the recordings to mp4 so you can import them into Vegas.

If you want any further help, you need to post a log with a recording session.

The correct way to deal with this is to record to *.mkv and activate Settings->Advanced->Recording->Automatically remux to mp4. This way, all recordings are remuxed automatically to *.mp4 after you stopped the recording with no extra manual work.

The other thing you should think about is why your recordings get corrupted very often. I didn't have even one corrupted recording the past years. You either don't take care and switch off your computer without ending a recording gracefully, or you have an instable computer. Repair your instable computer and you have much less time to waste with cleaning up the mess an instable computer will produce.
