I hate adding a video while live because I can't see it in order to place it appropriately, confirm it's not rotated, and mute the audio. It's a game of very quickly making it visible and hitting the mute audio button as fast as possible then fixing, if needed. Also, existing videos don't play either when you click the restart media button UNLESS you just played it before going live. I use mac if that matters.
