So, like many other churches, my church is now live-streaming their Sunday morning service. During that service there are prayers said, and readings done. These are all written in a leaflet that is available online and (normally) handed out as a paper copy. The problem is that some people only have an iPhone and so it's difficult for them to have both the video stream up on their phone(youtube app) AND the PDF service leaflet....
So, I was wondering about a good way to embed the words of what's going on in the video stream itself. The problem that then presents is how to best do that. There's quite a lot of text, and copy/pasting and styling all that is going to be extremely obnoxious and frankly not doable on a week by week basis. Especially making sure it was visible on all devices, fit the screen etc. plus I'd have to have a huge number of scenes to change the text.
I could just use a PDF source and show that, but then that's going to be super, super small on an iPhone screen...
Another thought I had would be to post the closed captions to the YouTube API in real time (since it provides a mechanism for that). The advantage of that being that it would handle the layout for me, and it would also be unobtrusive for people who don't need/want it. What do you all think?
