Question / Help Acer Nitro 5 best recording settings????

Test Subject

New Member
I am completely new to obs and just bought an acer nitro 5
Specs: 8gb DDR4 ram
i5 8300h ~ 2.3ghz max 4ghz
GTX 1050 ti 4gb Vram

I can't seem to find any settings that best fit it and auto config isn't working.
Whenever I record fortnite, I record at 1080p 60fps but receive choppiness when watching the recording.
Anyone got some recommendations for RECORDING mainly and streaming if you can.

Play at native 1080p (1920x1080).
Record/stream at 720p (1280x720) with that CPU/GPU pair. You don't have that strong of a setup to be doing 1080p@60.

Video
Base Resolution: 1920x1080
Output Resolution: 1280x720
Downscale filter: Lanczos
Common FPS Values: 60

Recording Output
Output mode: Simple
Recording Quality: Indistinguishable
Recording Format: mkv or mp4
Encoder: x264 or NVENC

Make sure you have current Nvidia drivers installed.

Hmmm, check to see if any of Microsoft Game is enabled:
Go to Settings | Gaming

Along the left hand side under the Gaming category will be listed items:
Game bar - Turn off Record game clips, screenshots, and broadcast using game bar
Captures - Turn off Record in the background while I'm playing a game; Turn off Record audio when I record a game
Game mode - Turn off game mode

Since this is a new laptop, make sure you go to Nvidia and download Nvidia GeForce Experience. You likely have the default Nvidia drivers that came with your Windows installation. After you do that, update the Nvidia drivers from within it.

Duplicate these settings and run a recording test.
