About what the API can do

I would like to create a plugin that switches between profiles and scene collections at the same time, is that possible with the current API?
I was told that the API does not allow access to either profiles or scene collections.

Should be possible. You can test some API functions in the Tools > Scripts.

May be you was told that objects can't be copied between the collections (you should do it manually, by coping blocks of data).
