Using the latest version of Win10 and OBS, I am trying to capture the GUI windows of VST and VST3 plugins which are launched from within Ableton Live. Try as I might, the VST plugin GUI is not offered as a capture target. Some of these are 32bit, some 64bit, they are created as Live loads the plugin DLLs.
Am I missing something basic?
I have tried "Window Capture", with Win10 19xx option on and off. I have tried "Game Capture", no joy with this.
Yes, I can capture all 1920x whatever of the whole screen, but I only want the plugin Window.
Live and OBS are running with elevated privileges, on the advice of another post.
My searches return information on configuring OBS to use VST plugins in its audio chain, but that is not what I am trying to do.
My guess is that plugin windows use a variety of technologies to render their screens, but since the plugins conform to a standard, and are ultimately using windows resources, I would have thought OBS should be able to pick them up, even if nothing more than the window handle.
Suggestions wand explanations welcomed - thanks in advance.
