A question about only recording one of your camera, while viewing both

A quick question, is it possible to record only one of your cameras, while viewing both. I'd like to record the small P.I.P. window in full frame, while monitoring the Program screen, with both cameras in it. Is it possible? And if so, how does one achieve that? Here's a screenshot to illustrate my question better.

I can think of 2 possible solutions:

1. Typically record a scene with the desired camera and project the scene with both cameras.

In the list of scenes, right-click on the scene, project in the window.**

2. https://obsproject.com/forum/resources/source-record.1285/

@JonathanC09 is right. That's the more generic way to do it.

Another option, if you only care about those two views at all, is to have two scenes in Studio Mode.
  • One to record, and you set that as the Main output.
  • One to monitor, and you put that in the Preview.
Streaming and recording (normally) only care about the Main out.

When you set up the two scenes with the same camera in both, don't add a whole new capture for the same camera. OBS will ask for it twice, and Windows doesn't like that. Instead, create one scene, and then use a *reference* in the other scene. Either Copy and Paste (reference), or when you add the second one, pick the one that already exists instead of creating new. Then OBS asks for it once, which is okay, and copies it internally.

I think I really need to read the manual in more detail, because both of your answers went way over my head, and my current level of understanding. I will try to explain in more detail, what I'm trying to achieve. Basically I want to use OBS as a giant TV teleprompter, scrolling my lyrics as I perform a song "Live", capturing both the vocal mic and my guitar into my Audio computer, in a different room. Behind me is a green screen, for chroma keying in Post-Production. The camera is recording that, so I don't need OBS to capture that. I just need to be in Projector Screen mode in OBS to see that I am centered in the shot, and the scrolling lyrics are full size and full screen. The small frame in the bottom left corner is zoomed in on my lead guitar playing, and it would be lovely to capture that in OBS in full screen, to later bring in to the Post-Production chroma keying project. So, if your answers are explaining how to capture that small screen in full size, then that is exactly what I'd like to do. I will re-read your answers, and run some tests. Hopefully eventually it will sink in. Thanks for your help guys!
