Question / Help 60 FPS Streams only watchable with Chrome?

Hello there,

this might be only indirectly relevant to OBS but it's something I noticed. I tried recording a game in 60 FPS with my i5 3570k and when I watched the recording to see how smooth it was my browser/computer almost died from stuttering. I tried watching the footage in Chrome and it worked flawlessly.

I also tried watching 60 FPS streams of other people with Firefox, Chrome and Opera with the same results - Flash seems to cause massive performance lag/stuttering while watching 60 FPS in Firefox and Opera, while Chrome can display the streams perfectly fine at 60 FPS.

Is there any reason why Flash shits the bed in Firefox/Opera but works way better with Chrome?
Is there any fix to get it to run smoothly in Firefox as well?

I run Firefox 19.0 and Flash 11.6 r602.

When this happens, you can often fix it by right clicking any Flash object in your browser, clicking "Settings..." from the popup menu and unchecking the "Enable hardware acceleration" option on the leftmost tab. It's some sort of issue Adobe Flash has with 60 FPS streams and certain computer setups.

That fixed it, thanks!

Chrome's flash player is not hardware accelerated. Some hardware acceleration can't properly decode 60 FPS, so that's why it works.
