Question / Help 5MB upload vs 10MB upload

Hi guys I had a really quick question, I stream at 2000 bitrate with a 5MB upload.. Will streaming with 10MB upload have any benefits for me if I am streaming at 2000 bitrate, Are there any benefits of streaming on 10MB upload rather then 5MB upload? Thank you for your help...

Nope, in both cases you will only use 2mbit of your upload. With 10mbit upload speed you just have more free room for other stuff. But with 5mbit you already have plenty of room for teamspeak, online-games, etc.

@Jack0r someone told me that if my channel gets a lot of traffic or a lot of viewers having a 10MB upload speed will be better then 5MB because it can cause a issue for the viewers watching the stream is that true in any way? Also I play game CSGO, and use team speak + have youtube music going on and watching my stream on a second monitor all from the same computer with a 5MB upload speed connection. You think it should be fine or do you think it would benefit me to have a 10MB upload? Thanks!

If you stream with youtube gaming you could increase the bitrate till ~8000 without problems for viewers to watch or get buffering. Or if you upload a lot of stuff. A higher upload rate is good. If you just stream with twitch. You dont need more than around 3000kbit/s to stream. If you arent partnered. Even if you are partnered you dont need more than 3500kbit/s

You shouldnt watch your stream from your same pc. That cost alot of cpu usage. ~20% . So get sure that all videos in background are disable /paused

The number of viewers does not matter for you, it matters for twitch and their servers only, as they have to distribute it to the viewers. You only stream a single stream with 2mbit to them. Youtube Music will mainly use your download speed, only CS-GO and Team Speak will use the upload of your connection and they both should not use too much.
You probably use much less than 3mbit of your upload while doing all the stuff at the same time.

FaHu is certainly right, higher streaming bitrates are only interesting for Youtube or if you are a twitch partner and get transcodes. But even then, 3500kbit is the unofficial maximum on twitch, so you will still have enough upload in that case. You will only need a higher upload if you plan to stream to youtube at higher bitrates.

So it makes no difference to have a 5MB upload or a 10MB upload? I can get a 10MB upload from my service provider if I pay additional $10 every month so they will increase it from my current 5MB upload to 10MB upload for 10$ more dollars a month... Do you think it can benefit me or is it worth it to do so? thanks....

Also If I dont watch my stream while im streaming I wont know a followers name when they follow my stream, it will make a sound but if I do not have my stream up I cant see who is following when it shows it up on the screen thats why I open my stream on browser so i can watch it.. I have a i7 4790k 16gb gtx 970... dont know if thats capable of watching my stream while playing on same pc but i want to be able to see who followed the stream when twich alert pops up....

you are most likely using twitchalerts anyway which comes with an dashboard so you have an overview of followers there

A second screen would help to see the follower alert. Its also good to see the twitch chat and probably your obs. You shouldnt watch any stream or video if you stream and play. It cost a lot of cpu usage, which you probably feel ingame with lags/stucks.

I dont notice any lag when im streaming and put my stream on my second monitor while i play.., When I have my stream open on my second mointor I see twitch alerts on it also I get to see what people type in the chat.. If i dont experience lag you think its ok to have my stream open on second monitor? Or do you think it will ruin the cpu because its using it a lot? Thanks

You should pause your own stream. The cpu usage for every video on twitch cost around 20%, if its running. You see normaly all information from your own stream in your obs. Like bitrate and drop frames. And if your task manager is open you see to your cpu usage. So get sure that all stream. If you mean the obs preview, that can be stay open, just the dashboard and channel videos should be paused.

Oh ok, so watching the stream from the OBS preview/enable view option is fine? I wont be using to much cpu usage if i just watch my stream on the obs enable view option? What if I watch my stream from my obs enable view option and use twitch chat box so i can read if anyone chats with me but dont watch the stream over twitch close the twitch stream and just open twitch chat box of my channel and watch stream over OBS enable view what do you think about that? Will I be using much less cpu this way? THANKS! @FaHu

Like i said. You can watch the obs preview without problems. You can also opened your channel site. Just get sure that your stream on your channel site is paused. But if you want only open the chat its also fine
