So I just got a Magewell and I've been trying to record local, MP4, indistinguishable quality. Sadly I'm getting skipped frames consistently. Surely there can't be a problem with my specs? If I really cant record with this quality, with this machine I'm pretty disappointed. I've also tried using Amarec instead to monitor, and using Amarec Live to pipe it in. Same problem. Also I notice that the CPU never goes about using about 10 percent according to OBS in the bottom right. At a total loss here.

1> need a log from the recording session
2> don't save directly to mp4, I can amputate both my hands and still have enough fingers to count the number of valid reasons to save directly to mp4.
3> what antivirus?

Oops I thought that was the log for that!
And, skip MP4 then? Wasn't aware! Any suggestions for the other format to use?
And uh well nothing besides windows built in thingy.

FLV and MKV can survive non-graceful shutdowns of the recording process. MP4 CANNOT.
If you need mp4 afterwards because your editing software is lacking in container format support, file ->remux recordings.

It's really odd having what amounts to CPU usage errors on a 5960x at ultrafast.

Do you have anything that could be causing OBS to not have access to multiple cores?

Ok, it is odd isnt it? And I'm not sure... Thats what Im trying to figure out. All 8 cores show up in task manager. Maybe a Windows 10 reinstall is in order?

I will do some digging, thanks

Could it maybe be CrashPlan?

EDIT: So far so good, I think maybe CrashPlan running the background was causing it. Ill continue testing but it seems good so far.

Harold, thanks. I think this was crashplan. Did more recordings with higher settings and no issues so far.

EDIT: false alarm its doing it again, ughhhhhhh
