5080 not working with encoder

just bought the 5080 and was all excited to get it fit and ready to go and play. The first day I bought it, I played Grand Theft Auto V, I had no problems at all, graphics were on very high, everything normal.

I then played marvel rivals + streamed my gameplay, after about 30mins-1 hour or so both my monitors turn black (I can still hear audio), after a few seconds they turn on again with marvel rivals fully crashed and OBS crashed too. This is 100% has to do with something regarding the encoder as this also happens on another recording software? Does anyone know a fix or if this is a driver issue and I just need to hope Nvidia fixes it or could it be hardware?

I have done all the steps that people have suggested such as bios, PCI, ddu etc.

This is what it says in the logs when it crashes:

[jim-nvenc] nvenc_encode_tex: nv.nvEncMapInputResource(enc->session, &map) failed: 8 (NV_ENC_ERR_INVALID_PARAM)

You just described a crash on the GPU that may be related to overheating or other hardware issues within the GPU, or an issue on the GPU driver.
Try doing a fresh install of the driver. A way to do this is https://obsproject.com/forum/resources/performing-a-clean-gpu-driver-installation.65/

Also check the temperatures of the GPU.
A log file from the moment the crash occurred is needed.
If the crash is within OBS itself it produce a crash report. So, check if there's a crash report from the moment it happened.

This is not a heating issue as I can run all games fine but the moment I try to stream or record overtime it just black screens then comes back with the applications crashed. This happens on any game I play, I have done DDU, BIOS everything you can name, this is the crash log

Temps of the GPU are also fine

OBS version is stale.

00:42:04.187: Video Capture Device: DecodeDeviceId failed

00:42:04.187: Video Capture Device: Video configuration failed
00:42:04.187: Video Capture Device 2: Video configuration failed

This is either the driver crashing or hardware failure.

01:29:47.796: Error encoding with encoder 'simple_h264_recording'
01:29:47.964: Device Remove/Reset! Rebuilding all assets...

Is your PC disconnected from the internet when using DDU?

PC is connected to the internet however I tried it without and it still didn't work.

GPU might not be seated correctly or it's something else. Either way this is an issue with your rig not OBS.
Yeah I don't think it is NOT seated correctly because the card runs fine without OBS recording or streaming, i can do major stress tests and benchmarks, using 99% of GPU and still sit at 70c for an hour.

If updating OBS doesn't change anything, I think it might be worth a shot to create a new Scene Collection, add just (1) Scene/Source & test.

Having multiple Display, Game or Window captures in the same Scene can cause inference so avoid building your Scenes this way going forward.

00:42:04.187: Loaded scenes:
00:42:04.187: - scene 'Scene':
00:42:04.187: - source: 'Game Capture' (game_capture)

I've seen some people saying that setting all refresh/frame-rates @ 60 eliminates or reduces the crashing.

output 0: pos={0, 0}, size={1920, 1080}, attached=true, refresh=360, name=Dell AW2521H

That is a log file, not a crash report.
OBS OBS 27.0.1 is too old. For your hardware you should be using the latest version 31.0.1 as it uses a new encoder that takes advantage of the new GPUs. It may be that the old encoder can't be used on the new GPUs.
On the other side, the 5000 nvidia series are new and some issues are becoming notice.

You still have capture interference and multiple game captures in the same scene which causes issues. Display capture should always be on it's own separated scene.

I updated everything and it still happens, the software doesn't matter as it ALSO happens on another software which is also up to date.

I didn't want to revive this thread but I have basically the same issue with the nvenc encoder it doesn't cause a black screen obs literally just stops after 1-2hrs doesn't provide a crash report. This is on a RTX5090.

I just did a 4hr stream without it crashing...it might be tied to multiple monitors at a high refresh rate causing the driver to crash. I lowered my second monitor from 240hz to 60hz. People have this similiar issues but with games I only have this with OBS which is strange. I'll keep this updated to see if it crashes later.
