I know there was a thread the other day by someone else about the 4k60 pro and 4k recording but i dont think im having the same issue. I just started using obs so im still learning stuff and kind of overwhelmed. so this is what happens. im recording in 4k from my x1x using hardware(GTX 1080) instead of software because everyone says it lightens the load big time on cpu so im like yeah thats what i want. and my pc is pretty good and im running off ssd. I should in theory be able to record 4k without issue. stuttering or otherwise. but thats not what happens.

when i hit record everything seems fine. cpu stays at around 12-17% or so and im like great but after about 4-5 mins of recording for whatever reason the cpu jumps to about 35% or so and i start getting that error message about Encode overload. BUT it goes away after about a minute or so. but then comes back again after a couple more mins. and im not sure why. im a noob at this stuff so it could be something super obvious and i wouldnt know but thats why im here. but thats not the only issue. looking at the recording afterwards i notice some jitter or stuttering in the video even when the cpu is low and i would like to know how to fix that also. thanks for taking the time to read and hope i can find some answers. i will attach my latest logfile for you to take a look at.

Log shows Preset: hq (high quality)
NVENC in GTX 1080 might be too slow to encode high quality mode at 3840x2160 60fps.

In NVENC settings, try high performance preset with 2-pass turned off.
Or, use less frame rate or less output resolution.
Or, try QuickSync encoder.

don't use obs at all, it is really not a good choice if you just want to record. Use shadowplay.
