Bug Report 4k Extreme 10 bit gets set back to 8 bit

Hello,

I have the deck-link 4k extreme and when I set my video input to HD 1080p 60 - 10 bit 4:2:2 YUV in either the global source section or the sources section when I either hit preview stream or if I go live the software changes it back to HD 1080p 60 - 8 bit 4:2:2 YUV.

I am using the latest test build # 6 see the attached jpegs I want to use 10 bit and have it stay like that. For giggles I tested it with x split and x split leaves it at 10 bit. This is not logged in the LOG it just changes it back to 8 bit no indication in the log that it has done so.

I am also still having the issue with OBS crashing and freezing when switching back in fourth between scenes described here viewtopic.php?f=6&t=2208&p=12646#p12646

And it seems as though the frames that I observer in the preview window to not always stay @ 60 FPS.

There's not much point in having it at 10 bit, x264 colorspace is 8 bit 4:2:0 so it will just get converted anyway, xsplit is the same. I have no problems with my Decklink device freezing or dropping frames, did you add it as a global source yet?

Rich Xsplit does not change back to 8bit and there is a huge color difference from 8 to 10. Will we be able to edit the color of the capture card in the future?

Thanks,

OBS has no control over the user settings of the capture card, it's not like it is purposefully setting it to 8 bit. It's just that 8 bit is likely the only compatible filter path since 10 bit requires a color space that OBS does not support.

OK I ask because xsplit does not operate this way and does allow the 10 bit color space. I am comparing and contrasting between the two software platforms. And in xsplit I can right click on the deck-link and change contrast brightness etc via the color tab also on the aver-media while obs does not have these options.

Thanks,

Changing the contrast and brightness is unrelated to the color space, unless you are doing 4:4:4 local recording it is unlikely you will see any difference between 8 and 10 bit.

10-4 I get that they are unrelated just talking about two different things now :-) I can definitely see the difference between 8 and 10 bit color. I would also like the option to change the color on the capture card, but this is just a wish just trying to let you know what would be preferred.
