Merry Christmas Everyone!

So here are my specs:

Motherboard - Asus Maximus VII Hero
CPU - i7 - 4790k @ 4.8Ghz
CPU Cooler - Corsair H110
GPU - Asus GTX 970 Strix
RAM - 16GB 1600Mhz
HDD - 120GB SSD, 500GB SSD, 1TB and 1TB External
PSU - Corsair CX750

First i want to state I mostly play FPS(same PC) and sports games(PS4) on my livestream.

I seem to run fine with a max bitrate of 3500 and 720p@60 while on the x264 preset of faster. When I stream the PS4 I can crank the preset to fast/medium. My first question is what should my settings be?

My second question is, Should I save up for a streaming pc? I had a PC with an I7-920@3.8Ghz but gave it to my sister. Would that pc have been enough to be a dedicated stream pc with a slower preset?

You can easily stream with a game like BF4 on Ultra and going 60FPS on 720P.

All you gotta to is change the X264 to Intel Quick Sync. You have it, and I recommend it. There's no need to throw a raw coding at your CPU.

Streaming PCs aren't something you actually need anymore these days. Anyway, I use "Main" for the coding instead of "High" all other stuff is default Twitch settings.

Bitrate 3000kbps as 3500kbps seems to give Twitch issues (this is a known limit).

Actually there is a reason to use x264, it's quality is better than quicksync or NVENC for a given bitrate.

I have streamed with quick sync on this system and i find that the quality is much better with x264 and as long as I am playing games at 60fps I am happy.

I tested out a max bitrate of 3000 on x264 with the faster preset while playing CoD:AW and I had frames around 80fps and 50-70% CPU usage. The quality was pretty good but should I drop the Bitrate some more and go down to fast preset?

I have the same CPU; I use the medium preset for 720p30 at 2500 Kbps, and the fast preset for 720p60 and 1080p30 at 3000 Kbps. Using Quick Sync with a 4790K would be a crime.

thank you very much. I will try the fast preset at 720p60 with a max bit of 3000Kbps when I stream tomorrow

So today I streamed bioshock for an hour or so and stopped because for the first time, my frames dropped like crazy. at least 8% frame drop by the end

here is my log http://pastebin.com/Eppmriic

I have 100 down and 10 Up and I've never had frame drop issues. I changed servers and turned down my bitrate but i still dropped frames.
