Hey, I just upgraded from a old 2014 Quad Core/1050ti system to a Ryzen 7600x/4070 Super build and am having issues with recordings on P6 and P7 preset, and sometimes at P5 as well. I am recording at a higher framerate (165) using the numerator/denominator option which increases Video Encode usage, but I used to do this exact same thing on the old build with no issues. I think I used P6 Preset before, but I definitely did not use anything lower.
When monitoring on P7 my "Video Encode" usage hovers around 90% but I have never seen it maxed out. I also am still using the NVENC system, but have changed from .264 to HEVC which I believe the card is optimal for. I believe I can use AV1, but I don't think I can edit with that so am using HEVC.
Using the Log Analyzer to troubleshoot, I disabled "HAGS" but saw no difference except now Task Manger does not correctly state the proper GPU usage. It will say 0% and if I open OBS it will jump up, and then jump up again when I hit record. No difference in the actual Overloading issue.
I am perfectly fine with lowering the Preset, I am just wanting to make sure something isn't wrong with the card, or I have a incorrect OBS setting. I was under the impression the RTX 4000 series had great encoding capabilities and wasn't expecting issues like this.
I should also mention there is noticeable input lag when I start a OBS recording. It's not a ton, but it is noticeable. I also didn't expect to have something like that on the new build.
In the meantime I have been testing out the NVIDIA app recording @120fps/100mbps and haven't had any issues.
