Bug Report 32bit hangs when trying to add Video Capture Source

As the title states.

No logs or crash dumps are generated when 32bit hangs. There are no problems with adding a Video Capture Source in 64bit, but the device I use (Elgato Game Capture HD) isn't detected.

For reference, in XSplit, the Game Cap HD is detected and works fine.
I felt this deserved its own thread because it is not a version-specific issue; no matter which version of OBS I try, the end result is always the same.

Here's a recent DxDiag: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/11119349/DxDiag4-9-2013.txt

The drivers for the Elgato are somewhat troublesome, they do not conform to DirectShow standards and need some workarounds to function properly. That being said, I know quite a few people have gotten the device to work in OBS, make sure that you are using the newest drivers for it.

It doesn't work in the 64-bit version of OBS because no 64-bit drivers are provided for it, there's not much that can be done about it at the moment.

I am currently using the latest drivers for the product.
However, the issue is not due the Elgato device; with the Elgato drivers uninstalled, OBS still hangs when trying to add a Video Capture Source.

Do you have any applications installed that provide something like a "virtual webcam" output? I've never seen XSplit's virtual camera cause this kind of issues, but that's just one thing that came to mind that might cause this problem.

Thank you for pointing that out.
I uninstalled ASUS Virtual Camera and the issue went away.

Virtual Camera Software/Drivers should be added to the Known Bugs & Issues section if it isn't already.

The most common "virtual camera" (technically custom DirectShow output from something other than a capture device) work fine, this is the first time I've seen anyone mention this ASUS Virtual Camera thing, it's most likely an issue with their drivers, and a workaround similar to the Elgato one might have to be added for it. Best would be if ASUS just made it work properly, though.

It most likely was the driver for the app. I opened ASUS Virtual Camera and tried to go to the settings menu; nothing happened.
I wouldn't expect ASUS to update it, since the laptop I use (ASUS G53JW-XN1) is a few years outdated.
The version of the software for my model of laptop is probably legacy anyway.

Doesn't bother me though, since I never used it.
