Question / Help [20.0.1] OBS Crashes each time I click "Start Streaming"

Hi guys, I tried to solve this myself before posting here, but I couldn't find anything at all that solved my problem.

My problem is a simple one; whenever I click "start streaming", it just crashes.

I tried updating my AMD Radeon graphics drivers, which didn't solve anything. They are now on the latest version. And all other suggestions didn't work either.

I am currently running on Windows 8.1 with CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4500U CPU @ 1.80GHz.

Here is a crash log: https://pastebin.com/4e5DLzcX

If you need any other information just ask.

Thanks in advance!

This looks to be a crash coming from the QuickSync encoder, which is tied to your Intel integrated GPU. Make sure those drivers are fully up to date as well.

Hi there,

thank you very much for helping. However, after updating these drivers, the problem persisted. The problem did go away when I changed my output encoding to software encoding, though! I'm curious though, is this going to have any other negative side-effects?

Thanks in advance :)

x264 will use your CPU to encode, rather than a dedicated hardware chip. The negative side-effect of this is increased CPU usage while OBS is recording/streaming. If everything is working correct, though, I wouldn't worry too much about it.
