Question / Help 2 PC stream setup without a Capture Card

Everyone I have been looking around on google with no luck. I hope someone can help me out here. I want to set up a 2 PC stream but I don't have a capture card. My streaming PC does have a HDMI in slot if that helps and I have a HDMI splitter. I have tried to set this up but when using the splitter it keeps switching my resolutions around and I can't get them correct.

A step by step guide I can easily follow, but most of the guides I have seen show changing HTML codes and that I'm not sure about doing.

Thanks anyone for the help here I really appreciate, I am just trying to get the best quality I can with the equipment I have right now.

i have an HDMI in slot on my alienware m17x r3. I also have a Elgato HD60 I can use if need be. I'm just trying to figure out how to set this up with the equipment I have so I am not stressing one PC to try and stream and game.

FN + F8 will apparently let it search the port for connected hdmi sources
but I assume it only acts as a monitor and not as a capture card as you're hoping but good luck

Yes, that HDMI in just allows other devices to use the laptop's monitor like any external (not connected to a laptop) monitor. It is not a capture device, and cannot be used to intake video for OBS.

thanks everyone for the replies, so to finalize this before I just cave in and buy a capture card. Is there a way to do a 2 pc setup using a HDMI splitter / Elgato HD60 without a capture card?

have you looked into setting up a virtual machine on your second pc with a rtmp nginx server running.. there's a few step by step tutorials on this forum or google helping-squad. Once you have set up everything it's easy to have everything running synchronised..

I have not thought of that, this is the first I have heard of it. I use OBS (Open Broadcast Software) that uploads to twitch.tv. Is that something similar of completely different?
