Question / Help 2 PC Setup 1440p gaming monitor but capture at lower resolution?

I am trying to play on my 1440p 165Hz gsync monitor on my gaming PC but then capture using an AVerMedia Live Gamer HD on my streaming PC. However, when I duplicate my gaming monitor to the capture card I get a spliced together image. I am assuming this is because my capture card can only capture at most 1080p 30hz.

MY MAIN QUESTION IS.....

Can I play my game at 1440p 165Hz and capture at 1080p using the AVerMedia Live Gamer HD? Is this impossible?

(side note, I actually stream at 720p 30hz)

I wind up just playing at 1080p 165Hz on my 1440p monitor and it doesn't look as crisp. This is a separate issue than my main issue. It seems to be kind of fuzzy compared to my other 1080p monitor. So, if I HAVE to play at 1080p, how can I fix this fuzzy issue. It's not horrible or really THAT BAD. I just notice a difference.

I can include log file if necessary, just thought we'd discuss if these things are even possible.

Yes, extend the monitor to the capture card (not duplicate), and then use OBS to fullscreen project the game to the new display.

Are you saying that I need to use OBS on my gaming PC to project the game to the capture card "display"?

Yes, but it would not be active and there would be negligible impact on your games by leaving it running in the background.

This is just one potential workaround to your issue until capture cards that are >60hz are readily available. The situation isn't ideal.

This works well. Only things I have noticed is a frame rate loss when you leave the preview up. When I turn preview off it still has the slightest frame loss. This frame loss however does not effect the FPS that is displayed by my game in the corner. Thanks for the help!!

I have the framerate loss in the preview as well and it affects the stream fps. I'm on 6700k @ 4.5ghz, 32gb ram and 1080ti. Any ideas?

This is unrelated. Please create your own thread and in the future avoid posting on someone else's. Make sure you include a log in the new thread.

My Capture Card can do 2560x1440p @ 144hz :P
But I still wish a raw capture rather than a scene composition, because it takes so much performance that a hook is faster. I'm still so sad about it :(
