So I just started streaming to Twitch recently. I decided to give the NDI plugin a try. I used to record via Bandicam and just upload videos. I am streaming World of Warcraft.
I am using 2 computers, with the ndi plugin (NO capture card). OBS works fine, plugin too.
Network (speedtest.net) shows download at 60-70mbps, upload at 5-6mbps.
I would say, both computers are mid/high end.
Gaming Computer:
i7 4785T CPU (locked)
Asrock Z97 Pro4 Board
16 gb. DDR3
700w PSU
Asus Dual 1060, 3gb GPU (OC via Afterburner)
Streaming Computer:
Ryzen 7 1700 (no OC as temps get too high, poor cooling due to case)
Gigabyte 370 Gaming 5 Board
16 gb. DDR4
700w PSU
Gigabyte 1050TI, 4gb
I thought that the Ryzen machine should be used for the streaming and recording as it’s multi-core capabilities are much superior.
On the gaming machine, I am still getting playable FPS on High settings 7/8 out of 10. FPS is 60+ in Legion zones, in Raids, actually 80+, only time it dips is on 40man world boss raids. Can hit mid 25’s (not good). This is while running OBS and sending the data to the other machine to record and stream. Temps are fine, CPU usage is low.
On the Streaming Machine, temps are around 53-55c, the computer idles at 40c … my In Win case, looks great, but terrible air flow. CPU usage is fine. Streaming at 720p, while recording at 1080p, max settings at the same time.
SO, here are my questions:
1. Would getting a capture card do anything for me?
2. I will be doing some streams to YouTube soon. I would do them in 1080p, so will the ndi plugin limit me?
3. Would using 1 computer (the Ryzen) be a better idea? I would move the 1060 card to that machine.
Any thoughts? Or just leave alone.
