Question / Help 1hr MP4 Recording Corrupted

Hi,

I recorded myself playing Minecraft on my computer (not online) for an hour yesterday. The file opens and plays in WMplayer, but after 12 minutes or so I get an error message saying there's an audio issue. I can reopen the video and skip beyond the stopping point, and the video continues to play fine. The file cannot be moved into any of my video editing software so I can't cut off the infected part (so to speak).

There were no crashes in OBS, Minecraft or my computer at all during the recording.

You could try remuxing/converting it to another format and see if that does anything since it doesn't seem entirely broken. We recommend recording to FLV to avoid MP4 corruption problems.

The problem with FLV recording is that the files then need to be converted to MP4 so I can put them on YouTube. Can you recommend a free piece of software that'll do that with no loss of quality?

VLC can convert your video, even broken ones most of the time.

Tried VLC and Handshake - both failed to convert the full file.

Youtube accepts FLV files just fine. It's your editing software that has problems with them.
