Question / Help ~17 fps on stream

When i preview my stream or just stream OBS stays at 17fps even though i have set the fps to 60 fps.
So far i have tried disabling aero ( does not work )
Checked drivers ( all good )

Also all settings on this pc are the same as my other 2 pc's where i do not have this problem.

Changing from codec also does not work or lowering the fps in settings does not solve this issue also increasing the bitrate does not solve this issue.

When i use that one the screen stays black, connecting a 2nd monitor to the laptop does not solve it.
I have already checked the settings and OBS should be using the nvidia card.

What i am trying to do is to use my laptop as the streaming pc, the capturing is being done by steam streaming option.
So far i have used a 2 pc setup for this and works fine however it would be great if this pc + laptop setup could work.

Thats it ?
A developer saying not to use something that is implemented in the product ?

I suppose you can not really expect much support from something that doesnt cost any money, but this is just pathetic.

sounds to me like your options are nill because you are choosing to stick with a specific setup that is in part, not using obs for its intended purposes. monitor capture works but not as well as window/game capture and since you are streaming from a laptop that will actually be slower than doing it on a desktop. you are also trying to stream 1080@60fps with only 2000 bitrate which will also be a limiting factor in this setup. Yes you are using NVENC but that is a lot of quality to squeeze.

my suggestion would be to rethink the setup you have. can you explain to me the current setup you are using?

The 1080p@60fps setting is there just to see how it goes and for your argument that the laptop would be slower then a desktop, well that depends on the desktop and the laptop.

If the bitrat is to low or the cpu/gpu would be stressed to much because of the setting then sure ill change that, it would however not result in the problems that i am having.

So far it seems now that when i select monitor capture it does work however even though the setting says 60fps, when i preview or record it stays at 30 fps at the status bar.

explain exactly what you are trying to record and how it's set up. If you're using a dual pc setup, I would imagine you're using some kind of capture device?
My first thought is that your laptop cpu isnt strong enough to do 1080p60fps, although after looking at your log, you're using nvenc, so Im not sure whats going on there... I used to stream through my laptop using a similar cpu (mine was an ivybridge i7) and I could only just manage 720p60fps. Maybe give quicksync a try?

Normally i would use a 2 pc setup with a avermedia capture card, that works fine.
However what i am trying to do now is use the Steam inhouse streaming ability as a form of captureing.

So i play a game through steam on 1 pc and then stream it with steam on the laptop, then use OBS to stream the monitor where the stream of steam is shown on.

only problem with that is your laptop is now doing doubke work. Decoding the steam stream then recapturing and encoding the resulted stream. It also means that tye decoding might not align properly with the encode giving you choppy results. I dunno but ill test it Sunday

I have not really noticed that much cpu/gpu stress on the laptop when watching a stream on steam.
I am not able to check it out though for the next week or so.
