Question / Help 144 Hz monitor and LGP Lite Capture Card?

Hey, I have an AMD 280X and I have a 144 Hz monitor connected to it through DVI. I also have a capture card connected to it with HDMI.

I am duplicating the signal from the GPU to the monitor/capture card but it seems like I cannot get my 144 Hz to display in anything else than 60 Hz. If I change the main display to 144 Hz, it will run in 144 Hz but the resolution will be completely fucked up.

not 100% sure but if im not mistaken then hdmi is limited to 60hz no matter what and only displayport and dvi can putthrough above 120hz

Yes, that's right. So are you saying that since I duplicate the "displays" it will down the frequency to 60 Hz? So I have to use an DVI to HDMI adapter in order to run my main monitor in 144 Hz while having the capture card plugged in?

I'm fairly sure thatany form of HDMI is limited to 60Hz. If it originated from a HDMI port, 60Hz. And I'm also pretty sure Dual link DVI itself is limited to 120Hz. Best bet for 144Hz and above is to use DisplayPort.

There is no 60Hz limitation, unless you're talking about at 1080p. And the limitations that exist are software, that can be removed, not hardware (unless your hardware is low quality or damaged).

Check out the Pixel Clock Patchers and Custom Resolution Utility from here: http://www.monitortests.com/forum/Forum-Monitors

Assuming you mean at 1080p, 72Hz on HDMI should still be easily do-able using the pixel clock patchers. I've personally gone well over 100Hz on HDMI before. The problem will be your LGP Lite capture device. Its only rated to 60Hz, not 72Hz, as I recall. I don't know of a way to hack around that problem. A better capture card may be needed.

The capture card does absolutely not have to capture in 144 Hz. 60 Hz is just fine, but the thing is that I am duplicating the "displays" and since HDMI can't run in 144 Hz the output source will automatically be 60 Hz since the GPU can't send two different frequencies when I am duplicating the output.
