Bug Report 100 % lagged frames

Hi all, i started testing OBS yesterday on a windows 8 64 bit rig with I7 cpu, and nvidia 660ti. Im used to xsplit. I installed the direct x sdk to get rid of the missing dll problem. Im getting tired of the caps in xsplit, and I find their pricing unfriendly.

I get some odd results in OBS. In preview, and a normal smallish resolution 800 x 400 at 30 fps it reports 7 fps in the right bottom corner. The whole computer also lag and go to 7 or less fps, it all stutters like mad. same when streaming to twitch. Log reports 100 lagged frames but few dropped frames. Im at work now so cant post log file.

I use the built in software screen capture option (I assume this is correct for games/desktop), and the disable aero is "on" in the settings.

So i guerss my problem is local, possibly in the capturing itself, maybe win 8, maybe aero that dont die on win8? Rig should be fine, but hey i might use an OS thats not supported. I haven't seen you guys dscuss win 8 at all. will try a 32 bit when home, but hope i dont have to go there.

Other things: I live in Norway and i know that the dutch twitch server is best. Choosing any twitch server other than the "load sharing one" throws streaming attempts into a retry loop.

any tips in this mess?

Yeah, Aero can't be disabled in Windows 8, so make sure you're not using Monitor Capture in the Software Capture source.

Not sure about your server issue.

Thanks, will try more tonight.

After reading this musical output from Jim I've decided to stick around for a while. He is on to a winner here:

"Anyway, I don't want to downplay the work that went into dxtory, however I do have to point out that my game capture plugin is going to get far better performance due to a variety of reasons. First one being that I made a fairly huge technological development that makes it so that it uses almost literally zero CPU (does everything via the GPU, doesn't transfer anything to RAM) and has almost no effect on your game, and the second reason is that it interacts directly with my application -- it doesn't have to go through directshow or anything for example, it just goes straight into the stream output. I have managed to keep good on my promise for a high performance game capture, and I'm pretty proud of it. I was a bit worried while making it for a while, but I refused to give up, and finally pulled it off."

Hey, monitor capture will be fixed (and greatly improved) for windows 8 in the update after next. Windows 8 actually has a super fast method of grabbing the monitor, but I have to add special code for it.

My bad, video card was messed up from an error in overclocking. Tested yesterday, and the stream is so pretty that I for a moment thought that the stream window from twitch was the game itself :p. This on win 8 64 bit before Jim has tweaked for windows 8.
