Question / Help 0kb/s, black capture screen, corrupt recordings

I have been using OBS for a few months now and haven't had any problems. I suggested the program to someone who was looking to stream. We got everything set up on his side, but then several problems occurred as fate conspired against us. First, the recordings became unusable. This happened immediately after a webcam was added. This is what prompted us to try streaming. When we tried to stream, we noticed that the stream wasn't starting. As it turned out, he was getting 0 kb/s when he tried to stream. After trying to solve the problem through settings, but not finding anything to help, we decided it would be best to restart everything, just to see. After restarting the program and the computer, the video in the capture device was no longer being displayed in OBS. The window itself was shown, but not the video inside. Of course, the previous problems were also not fixed.

He is using a laptop and I am aware that there are some issues with laptops using two cards, but I have no idea how to check to see if that's the problem he is experiencing (I'm trying to help him over Skype which works fine if I know where to go, but when I don't, it's just madness). We tried to remove the webcam to fix the problem, but that didn't help. We looked at firewall settings, but that didn't help. As I mentioned before, he restarted his computer. We changed servers, but that did not help. We've tried everything short of sacrificing first-born children, but have nothing to show for it. Does anyone know what to do here?
