I was wondering is OBS Studio ready or have started programming for x.265 and VP9 Encoding/Decoding for streaming when the AMD Zen is about to come out?

I just saw a PCI Express HVEC Encoder Accelerator call the Vega-3300 that can Encode x.265 real-time 4K@60FPS. I was wondering if I can use OBS-Studio with it, I'm just preparing myself up to be able to stream 4K.

I thought Youtube uses VP9. Shouldn't OBS Studio be able to encode VP9 for streaming? Does Youtube Gaming uses VP9 as well?

Well you have the option to stream on hitbox in 4k with the needed bitrate already (H264), or you can wait (2-4 years) till quicksync can encode AV1 and youtube does allow it for streaming. It seems twitch is not interested in quality, only in how many viewers they can serve as cheap as possible, so i think they will going the way of myspace before 4k streaming goes mainstream. (3500 kbit/s enforcement)

H265 has no future for streaming non DRM protected stuff
