Question / Help x264 issue

Hello so ive played with just about every setting to try and fix this issue, i started obs by trying to use the encoder on x264. Whenever i would record a game the recording would loook absolutely horrid. ive changed the bitrate, ive changed the cpu usage, ive changed the resolution ive tried everything i can think of. no matter what i do the recording comes out looking super bad. the only time it doesnt look bad is when i use nvenc h.264 with my MSI 960. My CPU is a i5-4590 so it should be able to hande it. i rather run it off my cpu than my graphics since its only a 960. Any suggestions? ty

Try x264 low CPU usage
Image quality won´t differ too much.
So, depending on the game playing , select the one with better performance.

thats the thing, ive tried just about every setting with x264 and in every recording it looks like shit. no matter how high i put the settings,

just tried every simple preset and the lowest one made my game look horrid, where the other 3 lagged my game uncontrollably

but when i use the same settings for WoW it is extremely choppy even with the graphics ingame turned all the way down.

then when i go to use my CPU for WoW the game just looks aweful, is a i5-4590 not enough to record a good quality video? I would use my GPU for WoW but even on low settings my recording will lag even when my game isnt.

Besides i only have a 960 id prefer to not put tooooo much stress on it.
