Question / Help Wont open on a Mac laptop

I have a desktop at home that i downloaded OBS on, but I it won't open on this Mac laptop. I have the laptop on OS X 10.9.5, and there are no software updates available. Is this because of the version, type of computer, or something else? Please tell.

10.9.5 is too old to run OBS, at least current versions.

If software update shows no updates available, then your machine is no longer supported-- it is probably a Core Duo processor or older.

You probably need to update to at least 10.10 or higher to run current versions of OBS. The current version, Mojave (10.14) has some problems, though, so you may wish to avoid this for now.

I myself am still running 10.13 (High Sierra) but you may not be able to get a download of that if you had not saved one prior to now.

I have this same problem. I'm on El Capitan 10.11.6, and no updates are indicated as available. I installed OBS and then tried unsuccessfully to open it. Restarted computer, tried again. No success.

Then I deleted OBS, restarted computer, re-installed OBS, tried to open it. Again, no success. So I restarted the computer again, and tried to open OBS a 3rd time. Still no success.

I tried again this morning. Still not working.

Can anyone please help?

Same deal installs fine but can't find the application to open it. Running macOS Catalina 10.15.3. Makes the app useless might have to get a refund.

You need at least OSX 10.12 to use the latest version of OBS

I am having the same issue with new MacBook Pro, 1sts 16 inch, Catalina, 32 GB RAM - i9 - 8GB video card.... it just keeps bouncing and bouncing in the dock. If I force quit, it sometimes works... but often times does not. ((( Makes no sense. Also, using lates version of OBS. No other apps are running.
