Question / Help Wired connection has slower upload speed than wired?

Title should be : Wired connection slower than WIRELESS connection. Sorry, can't figure out how to edit title!

I've been streaming wireless for a year now with relative stability. But everytime I mentioned that I stream wireless my viewers have facepalmed and made fun of me and stuff.

So a few days ago I bought an ethernet cable and wired myself into the router. But ever since then, my stream stability has been TERRIBlE! I consistently spike between ~1000kbps and ~3000kbpslose connection.

My ethernet connection is the one that came with my motherboard. It's a Intel i218V ethernet/LAN adapter, my wireless is a Netgear a6200 Wifi Adapter.

Hardwired I got 1.6 mbps upload, wireless I got a 2.4 mbps upload.

Any suggestions on why wired doesn't boost my numbers? Or at least stay consistent and not so wildly variable?

(Yes I do have latest drivers for both)

Is the old wireless connection disabled? What is the link speed of the wired connection? Post an OBS log file of you streaming using wired for at least five minutes.

I didn't manually disable the wireless connection, but I did unplug the adapter completely.

Not sure "link speed" but when I checked the speed in ethernet settings it said 1gb.

Log file from yesterday when it was wildly variable :

Log shows "insufficient bandwidth/connection stalls" so the problem is your internet, or twitch server, or the connection route between server and computer.

Try speed testing using speedtest.net while on wireless, and again while on wired connection. Wired connection should be more stable and might get faster upload speed. To stream, upload speed should be 3 Mbps or higher.

We figured it out. It was the windows update thing. If I have OBS preview up now with this new window updates, my bitrate spikes wildly.

Now I stream without preview and it's perfect.
