Question / Help Windows Update - OBS Crash

Hello,

I have uploaded the following report of a crash that occurred when utilizing x264. I have it on a faster preset. This was working fine before the windows creator update and now since the update I am obtaining crashes. I do have my CPU OC and when stress testing I have no errors. (I utilized Prime95, Intel Burner very high, and 3D Mark and system was stable) I do record with shadow play while streaming and regardless of recording still obtain this crash. I went back to Nvenc and all errors and crashes are now gone.

Computer:

CPU: i9 7900 OC 4.5ghz Water Cooled
GPU: Titan X Pascal
Ram: 32gigs Corsair
SSD: Samsung

I hope this is sufficient info, I can provide more if needed. Also, I may just stick with Nvenc since the fps gain is actually better currently, but just in case I do want to ensure this isn't a deeper settled issue.

Best,
Hector

I hope this is sufficient info to help uncover what might be occurring.

Crash in libx264 indicates either unstable overclocking or hardware issues in CPU or RAM. Nvenc doesn't use libx264 so that's why that doesn't crash.

Dilaz,

That is what I figured, but I found it odd that I had been streaming for over 2 weeks stable at this OC. Only major system changes was windows update. Other test I have done on the CPU have not caused instability. This is strictly occurring with OBS.

Other applications are likely not using AVX-512, so are unable to use your CPU as intensively as OBS.
