After recording HDMI output from Windows on a Linux PC with a cheap USB capture device for months, it suddenly stops working. HDMI from another device is fine on the capture device, so it's OK. If I connect the Windows PC to a TV, then after a moment it sends HDMI to the TV, so it's OK. I've now had this happen separately on 2 Windows PCs
My guess is that this is due to digital rights management and either it happens after a Windows update or because some app or website is able to switch on protection against recording.
Once it has happened , it is not reversed by a power off. Obviously this stops me recording output which I have a right to record, even from my own programs.
Does anyone have any idea how this can be fixed?
