Question / Help Windows Aero Does Not Stay On

I am having problems with Windows Aero constantly being disabled.

OBS Studio requires Windows Aero in order to see certain menus.

I did not find solutions online.

OBS Studio is the only application running, so I know this is not caused by a different application.

Adjusting OBS Studio settings do not prevent this problem. This problem occurs even when OBS Studio is not recording anything. I get some choppy movement with desktop windows while Aero is running, which means there could be something CPU-intensive or GPU-intensive going on, but the CPU readings are under 10% and you can see my computer specifications in the attached log.

This OBS Studio setting does not function properly:

Aero is disabled after a short time even though UxSms is running:

I'm using Display Capture:

I'm running OBS Studio as Administrator:

"Adjust for best appearance" does not help. "Custom" does not prevent "Enable desktop composition" from being automatically unchecked.

How can I prevent Windows 7 from automatically disabling Aero?

How can I prevent OBS Studio from disabling Aero so that I can see context menus in my recordings?

I have recorded many videos with OBS Studio and this problem is a deal breaker. Unless OBS Studio is fixed so that it does not rely upon Windows Aero in order to perceive context menus, I will use a different software program instead of OBS Studio. I was hoping OBS Studio would be a functional and usable software product.

I record videos of 3DS Max, but right-click menus do not show up in OBS Studio.

Monitor Capture has poor performance on Windows Vista/7

Beside that it might be overloading your GPU with Aero, 3DS and OBS running. Your Radeon 4800 is pretty ancient.

I think you're a bit confused, Aero is relied upon for the capture methods provided by windows.

There is nothing we can do on the OBS side to change how the capture methods function with or without Aero. OBS cannot create a new capture method just for Windows 7 to bypass this limitation, it would be something Microsoft needs to fix. As Windows 7 went end of life in January of 2015, there is pretty much no chance any updates will be made in this space.

As H4ndy mentioned, Display Capture on Windows 7 is extremely slow, but unfortunately the DWM capture is not available in OBS Studio.
