as the title says. i just purchased a webcam, it works in skype, it's a blackscreen in obs. everything else works in obs. even the audio from the webcam is picked up in obs just the video is black. i recently had a windows 10 anniversary update if that matters. log file uploaded for review.

When I right-click "Video Capture Device" and look at Properties and Resolution it is greyed out. Resolution/FPS Type is set to Device Default. When I set Resolution/FPS Type to custom it allows entry into the resolution field. I went ahead and just input 1920x1080 even though I have a 2560x1080 widescreen monitor because I think that's the resolution of my webcam. After a few seconds it came up. To test a few things, when I add a second scene and then add the same device it shows up. When I add a 3rd scene and add a new Video Capture Device 2 and set to the same device/webcam to it, it won't up even with the same settings...odd. In either case it appears to be working now, thanks EBrito.

Yeah I guess you can't create a new video capture device but have to use a clone of the already existing device?

You can, but actually only few devices able to frame-serve its own signal to multiply services... When you choosing device in source properties - you really initialize new instance of the device, so video stream from the camera unavailable (black screen, because previous still in use).

You can create a scene only with the webcam (by the way check webcam resolution; I think it should be 1920x1080. You can stretch it to cover all canvas if you set your canvas to 2560x1080 -monitor size-)

You can apply a filter to the webcam BUT use scene and not source to do it.

Then, you can create another scence with webcam (reusing source, as Suslik said), and can apply a different filter to scene).

Any scene can be used as a source in another scene.

This is the way to have "several" webcams with only one physical webcam.
