Hi,

so I have a Dual Boot System with win 7 and 10, latest obs studio version and nvidia drivers installed, only one gpu (gtx 1080ti) a desktop pc, when I try to use window capture to record something from chrome 78 on Win 10 it is only a blackscreen in the obs preview, yet the same thing works without any issue on Win 7, is there any fix for this and I mean with keeping the chrome hardware accelration enabled just the way it is on Win 7 aswell and it works fine! Is this a known issue with obs studio and win 10/chrome? Can someone please explain?

So again:

Win 7 + Chrome 78 with hardware acceleration enabled + Window Capture = works fine
Win 10 + Chrome 78 with hardware acceleration enabled + Window Capture = blackscreen

ps. only window capture seems the problem on windows 10/chrome 78, display capture ect works without issues

thanks for reading and I hope there is a fix somehow :/

just tested Firefox 70, same thing :/

Win 7 + Firefox 70 with hardware acceleration enabled + Window Capture = works fine
Win 10 + Firefox 70 with hardware acceleration enabled + Window Capture = whitescreen

@OBS Studio Devs do you guys know what the issue might be?

ps. disabling hardware acceleration in both browsers will make it work again on Win 10 but this is not a proper solution for the issue itself. On Win 7 it works fine with hardware acceleration enabled.

Hi there ! Found a temporary solution for this : run your browser (chrome at least) in windows 7 compatibility mode and it works flawless !

thanks for your post, I tried it and it actually really works but chrome is kinda slow&clunky for me with win 7 compatibility mode on win 10 and I can tell the difference seeing how it loads bunch of images very slowly like it gets stuck for a second, this doesnt happen on windows 7 or windows 10, so it seems the best way to go for me personally is just to use display capture instead of window capture for now.

ps. still wonder what exactly the issue is, when using win 7 compatibility on win 10 for chrome, it seems that chrome 78 drops the win 10 dark theme or something bc the main window frames were white instead of black/dark theme.
