Question / Help Window Capture outputs full screen

I want to record an application in a Window. It records fine but the output has the window in the top left corner of a large black screen. How can I output the video so that it's cropped to the recording area and not the size of the entire screen?

To match the video size with the size of a smaller source, go to Settings->Video and enter the size of the source into canvas size as well as output size. Unfortunately, there is no convenient way to do this, you have to transfer the numbers manually. To get the exact size of the source you have to enter, right-click the source->Transform->Edit transform. You find the size at the 3rd row of that dialog.

Thanks that works. I'm recording Chrome but when I load an extension it doesn't get recorded. I can get round this by changing the source to be Display Capture and entering in the x and y sizes, but then I have to move the window to the top left. Seems a bit fiddly, is there a nicer way to record a Window and anything that might pop up over it?

Unfortunately, no. Window capture captures exactly the app window, not even menus or dialog windows. I wish there were a function that is actually display capture to also get the overlaid windows related to the pure app window and crops the app window out of the whole display, but there isn't.

Hold alt, then drag the bounding box for the source. That will let you adjust the cropping.
