Bug Report Window capture just captures like display capture

So I have used OBS Classic for years to record various windows, generally multiple windows using OBS's excellent scene technique. The other day it started capturing windows that covered the one selected in my 'Window Capture'. I assumed there had been a MS Windows update or browser update etc and so I upgraded to OBS Studio expecting it to be an easy fix, but the issue persists. Probably better to show you with an image.

Now you will see Notepad is captured in both Window captures, despite me setting 'Window title must match'
How can I stop this and have it back the way it was, just capturing the window I want regardless of what might cover it?

Sorry about the links, I couldn't get the forum uploader to work.

Edit: oh it looks like they did

I have this same windows capture acting like a display capture issue ever since installing update to version 19 (June 2017) from version 16 (Nov 2016). I used OBS primarily in Mac OS El Capitan (latest iteration prior to OS Sierra) and worked fine in version 16 where I could capture an active window and it would place captured video into destination folder. After doing the update for version 19, windows capture operated just like display capture even though red capture outline correctly designated the window to be captured on screen. In other words, instead of just the window, it captured the whole display screen. Figuring some setting got reset with the update, I went searching through the settings and could not find anything that would make it work to capture only the intended window. Frustrated, I uninstalled OBS entirely, restarted the Mac, and went to site to re-download and install older version 16 I was using that worked. For some reason, even once the older version 16 was re-installed, it seemed to have still remembered the update from before which apparently was not uninstalled and even had the gall to state that the version 16 was the "latest" update.

Frustrated yet further, I went to install OBS for the first time on my Windows 7 Ultimate computer with all latest updates and Aero turned on, and I got same result with version 19. I am at a total loss as to why this once awesome program was so good at capturing specific active windows, and now does not. Really regret doing the update. Old adage: if it aint broke, don't fix it. If anyone knows what I am missing, please advise as this is definitely a version issue across two platforms as my previous non-updated version 16 was working fine on Mac OS El Capitan. Prior to this update from version 16 to 19, I never used OBS on Windows 7 Ultimate but for the fact I was trying to see if the windows version would get around this issue. Any suggestions are appreciated as I am looking for other video capture solutions presently.

As has been mentioned earlier, turn Aero on.
And I've never heard window capturing acting like display capture on OSX.

In spite of what you claim, If window capture is behaving like display capture, Aero is NOT actually enabled in windows on your windows 7 install. You NEED to enable aero AND choose an aero-enabled theme in order to have window capture behave properly on windows 7.

As specified before, I had Aero theme set to basic Windows 7 done under Personalization. Other than choosing an Aero theme which has always been the case on the Windows computer, I do not what else other than what I have read on different forums that is needed to make sure Aero is on (see below for verification steps I did). I have all the Aero functions available to me, so I am thinking I have done this correctly. Again, all this occurred when I updated to Version 19.

I verified Aero being turned on by checking steps from: http://www.thewindowsclub.com/aero-not-working-in-windows-7
1] Aero is supported on Windows 7 Ultimate (indicated before)
2] Ensure that your Graphic card supports WDDM (Windows Display Driver Model); (it does support)
3] Right-click on the desktop, select Personalize. Click on Themes and select the default Windows themes. Next, in Windows Color & Appearance, ensure that Enable Transparency is checked. (It was checked already)
4] Open Run box, type Services.msc and hit Enter to open Services Manager. Ensure that ‘Desktop Windows Manager’ Service is set on Automatic.(was already set to Automatic)
5] In spite of doing all this, you still find that Aero does not work, or your Aero has stopped working, simply copy-paste the following command in CMD window, and hit Enter.
rundll32.exe Dwmapi.dll,DwmEnableComposition (tried this too, no joy)
(This will re-enable Aero by flushing it.) (I never had any problems with Aero not working before)

As for Mac OSX, no idea other than now figuring a way to remove all elements of OBS before reinstalling previous version 16 for Mac OSX which worked. As a high school teacher, this is what my students use on the Macs in class that dual boot into Windows using BootCamp. I did this on the teacher computer and now will not update any other of the class computers until I can figure out what the issue is.
