WINDOW CAPTURE don't work --- it shows nothing but this image feedback that you can see when you open DISPLAY CAPTURE

HI

Translated from German to English with the help of my brain and google translator !

I've been looking for a solution for days - I've already google myself stupid, but nothing to the problem is to be found ! And even the thousand things that I have already tried do not help !

This is NOT about the famous black picture !

WINDOW CAPTURE don't work for me (all other things work well) --- when I open a WINDOW CAPTURE (it doesn't matter what you use for it - I've tried dozens of things), I get nothing but this image feedback that you can see when you open a DISPLAY CAPTURE !

I hope I'm just making some little mistake that I can't think of. I can fumble around as I want, it just won't work --- but it ran without any problems a while ago !

My laptop isn't new, but it's actually OK :

I7 - 2670QM --- 2200 GHz --- 12 GB Ram --- 64 bit --- win7

A few months ago I made some crazy videos with Snap Camera for the family and there were zero problems. I uploaded the Videos to Snap Camera via ManyCam and because the recording is rubbish at Snap Camera, I then saved them via OBS ! There weren't any problems !

I hadn't changed anything on OBS, just used it as it was after installing it. OBS automatically showed me the small screen of Snap Camera as a full big Video without doing anything. And only the screen, not what else can be seen there --- just perfect !

And now it was time to make some crazy videos again, but it doesn't work anymore. Nothing has changed on the laptop and I've tried a lot - turned off all other programs, turned off the firewall, etc. and I've also tried old OBS versions. Now, of course, I've played around with OBS and tried it out, but no matter what I do, WINDOW CAPTURE just doesn't work anymore !

nn.jpg

The two windows above are WINDOW CAPTURE --- bottom left is BROWSER --- bottom right is VIDEO CAPTURE DEVICE --- center is DISPLAY CAPTURE

You see, WINDOW CAPTURE is the same like DISPLAY CAPTURE !!!

I have almost the same laptop here again - the only difference is that he is only an I5 instead of an I7, otherwise the same. He does exactly the same thing, everything works, except the WINDOW CAPTURE does not !

I hope someone has an idea or knows the solution ! ! !

For any help in advance

THANK YOU

UPDATE

I'm trying other programs right now !

Snap Camera is not recognized by any other program - - - except for XSplit Broadcaster !

But strangely there are exact the same problems !

Regardless of which WINDOW CAPTURE you use, you only get the same image feedback what you see on DISPLAY CAPTURE !

So it must actually be a general problem and not due to OBS !

But why did it work a few months ago, and without changing anything on the laptop, there is now this unusual problem ???

And what's the problem - graphics card - win7 - my brain ..............? ? ?

It's because you're running Windows 7 with Aero disabled. Aero provides a hidden full frame buffer for every app, so you can always window capture the full app window, regardless if part of it is obscured by some foreground window. With Aero off, a window capture is like cutting out that screen area from the main display frame buffer - obscured parts are not present and not able to capture.
.
Update to Windows 10. The update is still free. Windows 7 isn't supported by Microsoft any more, and it's also not supported by OBS any more.

Thanks for your answer !

I was gone a few days and just read it !

YEAH - that was the little thing I dont´t know !

AERO helped --- WINDOW CAPTURE works now, but Snap Camera still doesn't !

When I open Snap Camera as WINDOW CAPTURE, 1 of 3 things happen :

1. You can see what is on the picture above !

2. You can see what is on the picture below !

3. The WINDOW CAPTURE is simply white !

Just like OBS is in the mood for it !

It's like OBS isn't getting any data from Snap Camera --- or from the window!

Snab Camera worked 100% on OBS a few months ago --- the reason cannot be because of win7, there are tons of people who can use OBS on win7 without any problems!

Everything else at OBS works for me too - except for Snab Camera for whatever reason. And Snab Camera also works without problems under win 7 --- the only problem is that OBS and Scab Camera are not working together at the moment !

win 10 --- no thanks ! I had that shit for a few weeks and after a long torture I came back to win 7 cheering and was happy again !

And no support anymore ??? What the heck - most things will continue to work for a long time ! But I know - at some point the day will of course come when I have to say goodbye to win7 --- whatever operating system it will be !

And what do I have now from this answer ???

Guys, leave me alone with win 10 !

I'm asking for a solution to my Snap Camera problem --- it worked perfectly fine with win7 a few months ago !

And although Snap Camera is advertised everywhere as a win10 program, it works (apart from the OBS problem) alone or with ManyCam under win7 perfectly on my Notebook ! In addition, many programs (of course not all) run without any problems under win7, although it is claimed that they only run under win 10 !

"most antivirus didnt work anymore" --- that's garbage, then tell me why I and many other people who also still use win7 (or even XP) have absolutely zero problems with viruses ! ? !

"no support from MS and OBS" --- and what is the problem here ???

Oh man - - - always this blaring and crying about NO support ! ! !

I take programs that run under win7 (like ManyCam, OBS and Snap Camera), install them on a computer without internet and can use them until the computer climbs into the hardware heaven !

A lot of People don't need the best, greatest, newest computer every 2 years to have a normal Internet / computer life !

I don't need anything better than my win7 on a SSD - i7 quad core 2.20 GHz with since today 16 GB (instead of the 12 GB specified above) 1333 MHz RAM - built in 2013 ! Even if most nerds don't want that to be true, you can live wonderfully with such a machine !

I play zero computer games and do not need the latest, greatest, oh so important programs for my normal internet / computer life + my graphics and video editing programs that I use all run without problems (and quickly) !

I've used xp for ages and never had problems with viruses or programs --- just like now with win 7 !

And I know 3 people where the combination ManyCam + Snap Camera + OBS is currently running under win7 without any problems ! They didn't do anything other than install everything under win7 (2 computers of which are also old) and it works without any problems !

So once again for all win10 junkies - it ran under win7 on OBS, but not right now --- that is the problem !

And if you actually think you know that it is a win7, or rather a win 10 problem, please explain exactly why you mean that ! You could make me really happy with that !!!

With "Support" we mean:
- the windows development of OBS is taking place under Windows 10 only
- the windows debugging of OBS is taking place under Windows 10 only
- the same for Snap Camera
- the vast majority of users is using Windows 10
- only a tiny fraction of users still using Windows 7 is present in this forum
- only a tiny fraction of users is able to work out issues like yours and tell about this in the forum

Taking it all together, there is probably no person at all who
- is in this forum
- and is using Windows 7 as well as Snap Chat
- and resolved an issue like yours
- and is able to tell what to do to solve the issue

So this is why you get no support for Windows 7. It's not we don't want, it's we aren't able to.

If there are people who are running Snap Camera under Windows 7, they are lucky. They did something by chance to make it run successfully. Ask them, and if they aren't able to tell what they did, you're out of luck. I resolved many issues myself by trying and working out a solution (the other part by just browsing the web), but without Windows 7 I and the vast majority of users isn't simply not able to duplicate your issue.

Use your time to make things work under Windows 10, don't waste your time by trying to make things work under Windows 7 that might already been fixed for Windows 10.
