I was recording video in a browser using window capture. It was working just fine in Opera up to December 21st, but I noticed when I attempted to record again on December 28th that the video preview would briefly appear in OBS and then the screen would go black. If I clicked on the browser window again and went back to OBS to preview the video image would again briefly appear but the screen would go black. Looks like a windows update was applied between the 21st when I last knew windows capture to work and the 28th when it would go black, but not sure if that was a contributing factor.
I tried many of the solutions online such as disabling hardware acceleration (in Opera and Chrome), running as administrator, changing the display to optimize for power savings, and nothing worked. I tried using Chrome and Microsoft Edge as the browser and got same problem with black screen. Out of desperation I installed FireFox and it worked, I am now able to record without the black screen. Any reason why this would be? I attached a log file from when I tried using Opera earlier today and got the black screen.
